In the last several years, the San Francisco Zoo has undergone several renovations and expansions. Through the support of the Taube Family Foundation and of Dianne Taube, a member of the Zoo's Board of Directors, the Zoo relocated its main entrance to face the Pacific Ocean and launched the Friend and Taube Entry Village, offering a gift shop, restrooms and membership and information booths.
Other renovation highlights included the Koala Crossing, patterned after an Australian outback station; Gorilla World, one of the world's only naturalistic gorilla exhibits; the African Savanna mixed-species exhibit; the Koret Animal Resource Center; and the restored Dentzel Carousel.
