This year, the San Jose Sharks saw the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in franchise history and brought in an extraordinary $316,000 through the Goals for Kids Program.
In total, each of the six benefiting organizations will receive a $52,667 grant check from the collaborative efforts of the Sharks Foundation, Taube Philanthropies, and the Koret Foundation. Initial reports estimate that nearly 52,000 youth and 170,000 total individuals will benefit from this year’s program.
The 2015-16 beneficiaries are Child Advocates of Silicon Valley, City Year San Jose/Silicon Valley, JW House, Loaves & Fishes Family Kitchen, Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area and Silicon Valley Children's Fund.
This is the second season of the Goals for Kids program, a partnership between Taube Philanthropies, the Koret Foundation, and the Sharks Foundation. For each goal scored by the San Jose Sharks, a $1,000 donation is dedicated to the program, which is evenly distributed to six beneficiaries. Over the last three years, the Goals for Kids program has contributed a total of $803,500 to Bay Area non-profit organizations.
