The Taube Foundation for Jewish Life & Culture, together with the Koret Foundation, congratulates the Galicia Jewish Museum in Kraków on its tenth anniversary! The Galicia Jewish Museum is celebrating its anniversary with special events, including workshops on Jewish culture, concerts and theater performances, an exhibition entitled "Street Life Jewish Style," and a series of anniversary lectures under the theme, "A Decade of Change." The Museum is also preparing a publication with essays by local Jewish cultural and communal organizations and Polish and U.S. foundations on the accomplishments and challenges connected with the functioning of Jewish institutions in Poland in the past decade.
Over these past 10 years, the Galicia Jewish Museum has become one of the most important Jewish cultural institutions in Poland, and has received accolades from both the Polish government and tourism industry. In 2013, the Galicia Jewish Museum was ranked one of three best museums in Kraków and one of the top 10 of 99 attractions by Trip Advisor, and received the famous “Salt Crystals” Prize. It continues to be known for hosting innovative, modern temporary exhibits by up-and-coming artists, in addition to its permanent exhibition.
Chairman and Executive Director of the Taube Foundation for Jewish Life & Culture, Tad Taube and Shana Penn, participated in the opening of the Galicia Jewish Museum in 2004, and look forward to upcoming partnerships with the Museum in Poland and the San Francisco Bay Area.
